What TB500 5mg is
TB-500 is a synthetic peptide based on the active region of thymosin beta-4, a protein found in almost every cell in the body that helps cells move and organize their internal scaffolding. Each vial contains 5 mg of freeze-dried powder for mixing with bacteriostatic water.
It’s widely used for recovery from injuries, often alongside BPC-157. The supporting evidence comes from animal studies and from trials of the full thymosin beta-4 protein, not TB-500 itself. It isn’t approved as a medicine. Here’s what’s known and what isn’t.

How it works
- Binds actin, a building block of the cell’s skeleton, which helps cells migrate to injury sites.

Cancer question
Thymosin beta-4 promotes cell migration and blood vessel growth, and higher levels have been found in some tumours. Whether TB-500 affects cancer risk is unknown.

Banned in sport
TB-500 is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list, and racehorse trainers have been sanctioned for it.

Mixing math. Adding 2 ml of bacteriostatic water to the 5 mg vial gives 2.5 mg per ml. On a U-100 insulin syringe:
- 0.5 mg = 0.2 ml = 20 units
- 1 mg = 0.4 ml = 40 units
- 2.5 mg = 1 ml = 100 units
Mixing and storage

- Add the water slowly down the side of the vial and swirl gently until clear.
- Keep unmixed and mixed vials in the fridge (2–8 °C), away from light.
