Genetix Pharma’s Nolvadex contains tamoxifen citrate, 20 mg per tablet with 50 tablets per bottle. Tamoxifen is one of the most studied drugs in medicine, used for breast cancer since the 1970s.
For men, it’s the go-to drug for early gynecomastia and a standard part of post-cycle therapy. It’s usually well tolerated in short courses, but its blood clot risk means it isn’t right for everyone.

How it works
Tamoxifen is a SERM: it blocks estrogen receptors in some tissues and activates them in others.
- Breast tissue: blocks estrogen, which shrinks early gynecomastia.
- Brain: blocks estrogen feedback, so LH and FSH rise and the testes restart testosterone production.
- Liver and bone: acts like estrogen, which helps bones but raises clotting risk.
Its half-life of about 5–7 days means it takes a couple of weeks to reach steady levels.

Dosing information
Clinical reference. For breast cancer, tamoxifen is 20 mg once a day. For gynecomastia, studies in men have used 10–20 mg a day for about three months. PCT use is off-label.

They block CYP2D6, the liver enzyme that turns tamoxifen into its active form (endoxifen), so tamoxifen can work less well.
- CautionAnastrozole and letrozole
Tamoxifen lowers anastrozole levels; in breast-cancer treatment the two are not given together.

How it fits after a cycle
Tamoxifen is started once the steroids have cleared, from a few days after short esters to about three weeks after decanoate. Some protocols pair it with clomiphene (Clomid).
