What Zionova Clomid is
Clomid is the brand name for clomiphene citrate, a SERM that has been used since the 1960s to help women ovulate. Each Zionova tablet contains 50 mg, with 50 tablets per bottle.
In men, clomiphene raises LH and FSH, the signals that tell the testes to make testosterone and sperm. That’s why it’s used off-label for low testosterone and in post-cycle therapy (PCT). It’s effective, but it has one side effect you must never ignore: changes in vision.

How it works
Clomiphene blocks estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus. The brain reads that as low estrogen and increases its output of GnRH, LH and FSH.
- In men, higher LH drives the testes to make testosterone; higher FSH supports sperm production.
- Long-lasting: its half-life is about 5 days, and one of its two isomers lingers much longer, so effects build over weeks.
- Estrogen rises too, because more testosterone means more conversion to estradiol.

Dosing information
Clinical reference. For ovulation induction, the label dose is 50 mg a day for 5 days per cycle. In men with low testosterone, studies have commonly used 25 mg a day or 50 mg every other day, adjusted with bloodwork. Use in men is off-label.

Side effects and risks
Most men tolerate clomiphene well, but stop immediately if your vision changes.
Vision changes
Blurred vision, spots, flashes or afterimages. Stop taking it and see a doctor or optometrist; rarely, effects have been long-lasting.
Mood changes
Irritability, mood swings and low mood are reported, often linked to one of clomiphene’s isomers.
Higher estradiol
As testosterone rises, estradiol can too, sometimes enough to cause nipple sensitivity.
Hot flashes and headaches
Common, usually mild.
Blood clots (rare)
Like other SERMs, it may slightly raise clot risk. Leg swelling, chest pain or sudden breathlessness needs emergency care.
Don’t use it if you
Have liver disease, a pituitary tumour, a history of blood clots, unexplained vision problems, are pregnant, or are under 18 without a specialist.

11Uses
How it fits after a cycle
After steroids, your brain stops sending LH and FSH. Clomiphene helps restart that signal. PCT usually begins once the steroids have cleared: a few days after short esters, about two weeks after enanthate or cypionate, and about three weeks after decanoate. Some protocols use tamoxifen (Nolvadex) instead or alongside it. Bloodwork 4–6 weeks after PCT shows whether your own production has returned. See Pairs well with below.

Common questions
Clomid or Nolvadex?
Both restart LH and FSH. Clomiphene may raise testosterone more strongly but causes more mood and vision side effects; tamoxifen is often easier to tolerate. Bloodwork tells you which works for you.
Can Clomid be used instead of TRT?
Some doctors prescribe it off-label for men with low testosterone who want to keep their fertility, since TRT shuts sperm production down. It only works if the testes can still respond.
What should I do if my vision changes?
Stop taking it and get your eyes checked. Don’t restart without a doctor’s advice.
