What Turinabol by Genetix Pharma is
Turinabol is chlorodehydromethyltestosterone (often called Oral Turinabol or “Tbol”), an oral anabolic steroid with 50 tablets per bottle; the tablet strength is in the specifications below. It was developed in East Germany in the 1960s and became the centrepiece of that country’s state doping program.
It’s a modified version of Dianabol that doesn’t convert to estrogen, so it gives slower, drier gains. As an oral, it still strains the liver and cholesterol. Here’s what to know.

How it works
Turinabol is methandienone with a chlorine atom added. That small change has big effects:
- No aromatization: it can’t convert to estrogen, so no estrogen-driven bloating or gynecomastia.
- Milder androgen: fewer acne and hair effects than many steroids.
- 17-α-alkylated: it works as a tablet, but strains the liver. Its half-life is about 16 hours.

Side effects and risks
Turinabol is often called mild. Athletes in the East German program experienced serious long-term health problems, though at heavy, prolonged and often unknowing use.
Liver strain
Liver enzymes rise in many users. Skip alcohol and other orals, and keep courses short.
Cholesterol
HDL drops and LDL rises, raising cardiovascular risk.
Suppression
Natural testosterone falls, even at moderate doses.
Back pumps and cramps
Painful lower-back or calf pumps during training are commonly reported.
For women
Turinabol was given to female athletes, many of whom developed lasting virilization and other health problems.
Don’t use it if you
Are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, have liver, kidney or heart disease, high cholesterol, or are using another oral steroid.

- SeriousWarfarin and other blood thinners
Oral anabolic steroids can multiply warfarin’s effect. Large INR jumps and bleeding are on record, and the anticoagulant dose often has to be cut sharply.
- CautionAlcohol, acetaminophen and other liver-heavy drugs
Drinking, regular high doses of acetaminophen (Tylenol), isotretinoin and some antifungals all load the same liver that this tablet already strains.
- CautionInsulin and diabetes tablets
Blood sugar can drop, so diabetes medicines may need changing.
- CautionPrednisone and other corticosteroids
Extra fluid retention and swelling, a concern with heart or kidney problems.

Turinabol or Dianabol?
Turinabol is a modified Dianabol that doesn’t convert to estrogen. It gives slower, drier gains with less water and less gynecomastia risk; Dianabol gives faster, fuller gains with more side effects. Both strain the liver.
Is Turinabol detectable for a long time?
Yes. In 2012, scientists found long-lasting Turinabol metabolites that can be detected for months, which led to many Olympic medals being stripped in retesting.
Does Turinabol cause water retention?
Very little, because it doesn’t aromatize.
