- Halotestin (fluoxymesterone) is a strongly androgenic oral that adds strength with almost no size.
- It was prescribed for low testosterone, delayed puberty and breast cancer.
- It’s among the most liver-toxic steroids and is very hard on cholesterol.
- It’s used mainly by strength athletes and fighters for short periods before competition.
Halotestin is a specialist’s drug. It does little for muscle size, but it’s known for strength, intensity and aggression, which is why powerlifters and combat athletes have used it. It’s also one of the riskiest orals. This guide explains why.
What is Halotestin?
Fluoxymesterone is a testosterone derivative with a fluorine atom and a 17-alpha-methyl group. It was introduced in the late 1950s and prescribed for male hypogonadism, delayed puberty in boys, and some advanced breast cancers in women. Its androgenic effects are strong relative to its muscle-building effects, and it doesn’t convert to estrogen.
What users report
- Large strength increases without weight gain
- Increased aggression and competitive drive
- A harder look when lean
- Little or no muscle size gain
Clinical reference doses
For male hypogonadism, the label range was 5 to 20 mg a day. Breast cancer treatment used higher doses under close supervision. There’s no approved dose for performance.
Side effects
Liver
Fluoxymesterone is 17-alpha-alkylated and considered one of the most hepatotoxic steroids. Liver enzymes can rise quickly; yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine or abdominal pain need urgent care. Our liver guide explains monitoring.
Cholesterol and blood pressure
HDL can fall sharply and blood pressure can rise.
Mood and behaviour
The aggression people seek can spill into irritability and conflict outside the gym. See our mental health guide.
Other effects
- Acne and hair loss
- Suppressed natural testosterone and sperm production
- Strong virilization in women; not suitable for women
Bloodwork in Canada
Check liver enzymes, a lipid panel, blood pressure, testosterone and a complete blood count before, during and after use, through your family doctor or LifeLabs or Dynacare.
