What Sermorelin 5mg is
Sermorelin is the first 29 amino acids of GHRH, the smallest piece of the natural hormone that still tells the pituitary to release growth hormone. Each vial contains 5 mg of freeze-dried powder for mixing with bacteriostatic water.
It was approved in the US in the 1990s, as Geref, to diagnose and treat growth hormone deficiency in children, and was withdrawn in 2008 for manufacturing reasons rather than safety. Because it works through your own pituitary, growth hormone stays under the body’s natural controls.

How it works
- Activates GHRH receptors in the pituitary, releasing stored growth hormone in pulses.
- Self-limiting: somatostatin, the body’s brake on growth hormone, still works, so levels are less likely to overshoot.

Dosing information
Clinical reference. For children with growth hormone deficiency, Geref’s label dose was 30 mcg per kg of body weight once a day at bedtime. There’s no approved adult dose.

Mixing math. Adding 2.5 ml of bacteriostatic water to the 5 mg vial gives 2 mg (2,000 mcg) per ml. On a U-100 insulin syringe:
- 200 mcg = 0.1 ml = 10 units
- 500 mcg = 0.25 ml = 25 units
