What Supermans by Genetix Pharma is
Supermans (also sold as Superman 40) is an erectile dysfunction (ED) tablet from Genetix Pharma that combines sildenafil, the drug in Viagra, with tadalafil, the drug in Cialis. Each tablet contains 20 mg of sildenafil and 20 mg of tadalafil, 40 mg in total, which is where the “40” in the name comes from. Each pack holds 50 tablets.
It’s aimed at men who haven’t had the results they want from one drug alone. But no sildenafil–tadalafil combination is approved in Canada, and both drugs’ labels warn against pairing them with another ED medication, because each lowers blood pressure. Here’s what you should know first.

How it works
During arousal, nitric oxide raises cGMP, which relaxes the blood vessels in the penis so blood can flow in. The enzyme PDE5 breaks cGMP down. Sildenafil and tadalafil both block PDE5; what differs is timing.
- Sildenafil: starts in about 30–60 minutes and lasts around 4–6 hours. Fatty food delays it.
- Tadalafil: peaks after about 2 hours and can work for up to 36 hours (half-life about 17.5 hours). Food has little effect on it.
Neither one causes an erection without sexual arousal, and neither raises libido.
Side effects and risks
Combining two PDE5 inhibitors makes side effects, especially low blood pressure, more likely than with either one alone.
Common side effects
Headache, facial flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion, and back or muscle pain. Sildenafil can also cause a temporary blue tint to vision or light sensitivity.
Never mix with nitrates
Nitroglycerin (for angina) and “poppers” (amyl nitrite) with any PDE5 inhibitor can cause a severe, sudden drop in blood pressure. Allow at least 48 hours after a tablet before any nitrate.
Dizziness and fainting
Alcohol, alpha-blockers such as tamsulosin or doxazosin, and blood pressure medicines all add to the drop in blood pressure. Get up slowly, and stop if you feel faint.
Priapism
An erection lasting more than 4 hours is a medical emergency. Get to an emergency department; delays can cause lasting damage.
Sudden vision or hearing loss
Stop and seek medical care immediately if you lose vision in one or both eyes, or notice sudden hearing loss or ringing in your ears.
Don’t use it if you
Take nitrates or riociguat, use any other ED medication, have heart disease or recently had a heart attack or stroke, have low or uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe liver or kidney disease, or are under 18.
Before you take it
- Check your medications: nitrates, alpha-blockers, blood pressure medication, and drugs that raise PDE5 inhibitor levels (ritonavir, ketoconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin)
- Skip grapefruit: it raises blood levels of both ingredients
- Know your blood pressure before you start
- Get a check-up: ED that doesn’t respond to a single drug can point to diabetes, heart disease or low testosterone
Dosing information
Clinical reference. On their own, sildenafil for ED usually starts at 50 mg (range 25–100 mg) and tadalafil at 10 mg (range 5–20 mg), each no more than once a day.
A Supermans tablet has 20 mg of each: a low dose of sildenafil and the maximum single dose of tadalafil. There’s no clinical dose for the combination because none has been approved. Don’t take more than one Supermans tablet in 24 hours, and don’t add any other ED product.
Talk to a doctor before use, especially with any heart or blood pressure condition.
Getting the best results
- Take one tablet about 60 minutes before sex.
- Avoid a large, fatty meal beforehand.
- Limit alcohol.
- Never take a second tablet the same day, or combine it with Thanos, Cialis or Viagra.
- Store at room temperature in a dry place.
